Ingolstadt and the Danube

This the Danube at Ingolstadt. Ingolstadt is in northern Bavaria, and is the locale for some of the events which will be depicted in the novel I'm writing with Virginia. For centuries, Ingolstadt was the main fortification the Bavarians had on the Danube. But there's not much left of the fortifications now.

I was disgruntled to discover that the Danube is NOT "blue." Not even close. More of a mucky green. Hmph. STRAUSS LIED!

Here's a personal snapshot. I suspect the trashhauler was grinning because he'd been driving me nuts trying to claim that the Danube was undoubtedly blue in Vienna -- which is still further downstream. Pfui. Ursus is low-browed but not stupid. By the time it gets to Vienna, I betcha the Danube is practically brown.

See if I ever dance a waltz again, hmph.

Ursus, gazing upon Ingolstadt skeptically. The town will forever be associated in my mind with great disillusionment. Ever since I was a kid, dammit, the Danube was supposed to be BLUE.

Hmph. Even leaving that aside, Ingolstadt left me cold. There's not much left of its old fortifications, and today the town is just a very upscale residential area.
